Spider-Man: No Way Home won't be Tom Holland's last MCU adventure, report says
Marvel and Sony's partnership will continue, producer Amy Pascal tells Fandango.
Spider-Man will continue to swing through the Marvel Cinematic Universe after No Way Home.
Tom Holland's Marvel Cinematic Universe adventures will continue after Spider-Man: No Way Home, producer Amy Pascal told Fandango on Monday. Her comments came on the same day that movie theater websites crashed as tickets for No Way Home went on sale ahead of its Dec. 17 release.
Sony Pictures' partnership with the Disney-owned Marvel will continue, Pascal said, with the studios "getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie." She suggested that they're thinking about "the next three" movies after No Way Home wraps up the storyline from 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming and 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Sony owns the cinematic rights to Spider-Man, and struck a deal with Disney to allow the wall crawler to appear in its MCU movies. Far From Home made $1 billion at the box office, becoming Sony's highest-grossing movie of all time.
However, the relationship between the studios has occasionally seemed bumpy. There was concern that it had been severed in 2019, but the studios patched things up to allow No Way Home to take place in the MCU. Pascal's comments to Fandango on Monday confirm that the relationship will endure beyond that movie.
No Way Home will see Holland's Peter Parker go on a multiversal adventure and face villains from Spidey movies stretching back to the eras when Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield played the role, even though they took place in different universes.
The movie's trailers revealed Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), Electro (Jamie Foxx), Sandman and Lizard. Rumors suggest Maguire or Garfield will show up as alternate universe Spideys, too.
Neither Sony nor Disney immediately responded to requests for comment.
