Tom Brady throws 600th career TD pass in game vs. Bears

Remember when 300 passing touchdowns was a hallmark around the NFL? Well, Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just doubled that by virtue of two more scores early on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Heading into Week 7, the seven-time Super Bowl champion had thrown an NFL record 598 touchdown passes in 22 seasons. Second on the all-time list was the recently retired Drew Brees with 571 scores.

Continuing to add to his accolades, Tom Terrific connected with Mike Evans on this nine-yard score to put Tampa Bay up 21-0 late in the first quarter. In the process, the GOAT racked up his 600th career touchdown pass.

A total of 600 touchdown passes. Should we repeat that again? Six-hundred touchdown passes for Tom Brady in his NFL career.

Let’s put this into perspective for a second. Two San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame quarterbacks -- Joe Montana and Steve Young -- combined for 505 regular-season touchdown passes. That’s nearly 100 fewer than Tom Brady himself.

We understand the different eras. We fully grasp that things are easier for quarterbacks and offenses in today’s NFL. Despite that, 600 touchdown passes is an absurd accomplishment. It’s a milestone that might never be matched.
