Salvatore Ferragamo recently supported the initiative to restore The Fountain of Neptune, a monumental heritage in Florence, Italy. As per the Salvatore Ferragamo website, after two years of meticulous, complex restoration work, the Fountain of Neptune in Piazza della Signoria has been presented to the public in all its ancient glory, and Florence’s most famous fountain is more triumphant than before now that its water supply system has been rebuilt to feed water to the majestic jets that, for the first time in history, will spray the way Bartolomeo Ammannati, the fountain’s designer, dreamed they would. The restoration of one of the most well-known and well-loved monuments of Florence, presented on the 500th anniversary of the original commissioner of the masterpiece, Cosimo I and Caterina de’ Medici, consisted of cleansing marble, bronze and rebuilding of the water plumbing system.Ferruccio Ferragamo, President of the Salvatore Ferragamo Group said on the initiative, as per the website, “It has been a privilege for our company to support this important restoration project and see this work of art restored in its full splendor to Florence. This is the result of a virtuous partnership between the public and private sectors, and it is our family’s way of thanking the city and upholding the close relationship that my mother and father forged with it. This project is a tangible expression of our gratitude to Florence.”Salvatore Ferragamo has always embraced art and culture and supported the causes related to the same. Being a lover of art and beauty, the brand has maintained close ties and collaborated with the art community, a core value even today, in the past. An example of such collaborations is this silk twill scarf, designed by Ikko Tanaka, as per the website. There was also an instance where Ann Craven painted a series of water-colors on paper, called the “Shoe Portrait.” The work was created for the “The Amazing Shoemaker” exhibition and depicted Ferragamo's most iconic shoes, according to the website. The brand’s love for art has often reflected in the products, the pump in kidskin embroidered with a geometric motif inspired many artists such as Vanessa Beecroft, Sylvie Fleury, Marta Dell'Angelo, Pae White, and Rosemarie Trockel, who joined “The Game” exhibition in New York in 2003, as per the website.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the Salvatore Ferragamo collection. https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
