At the 24th Annual New York Academy of Arts’ (NYAA) Tribeca Ball presented by Van Cleef & Arpels artist Brian Donnelly, a.k.a KAWS was honored.The24th edition of the Annual New York Academy of Arts’ (NYAA) Tribeca Ball was held on Monday, April 8th, 2019. Billed as the “downtown social event of the season” in a press release the fancy open house featured festivities that were spread over several floors at the 111 Franklin Street venue. Importantly, the event was held to honor artist Brian Donnelly who goes by the professional name of KAWS.Van Cleef & Arpels was on hand to present the event which was hosted by Swizz Beatz, Helen King and Per Skarstedt who were chairs for the evening. The ball has been presented by Van Cleef & Arpels for the last nine years, and during the period has focused on several emerging artists of the Academy. The proceeds from the ball which this year honored KAWS, has over the years been used to support scholarships and public programming. At this year’s ball, the iconic clover motif of Van Cleef & Arpels’ Alhambra collection which is thought to bring good luck was the focus of all attention. The motif was used to celebrate luck, over the five floors of one-night-only exhibitions and interactive installations at the venue.The five floors of the ball saw over 100 artists' studios on display alongside musical performers, champagne bars, stilt walkers, fortune tellers and much more. Among the notable guests at the ball was actress Naomi Watts and Brooke Shields.
