His mouth is open, the lips contours drawn with care and mastery. These eyes are open, the pupils marked by two holes with primitive trephine that give it a beautiful timeless look. Green serpentine carved and polished with luminous and aquatic reflections. Two biconical holes made with a primitive trephine on the bottom of the ears. Olmec, Middle Formative or Pre-Classic Age, Mexico, 900 to 400 BC JC. 15 x 15 cm. Estimate: 80,000 € - 120,000 € (89,860 USD – 134,790 USD)— Lot 16: “Jaguar sitting on his rear train”, mouth open showing fangs, ready to spring symbolically on his prey. The animal is here represented with naturalism. The front legs evoking the shamanic transformation of man to the animal. Its head is surmounted by a stylized corn cob and its ears carved in the back by spirals evoking cosmic movement. This deity is placed on a quadrangular base carved on the side walls of primitive glyphs. Hard stone with traces of polychrome localized, Olmec transition Maya, Pacific coast, 800 to 200 BC. 56 x 17 x 16 cm. Estimate: 50,000 € - 70,000 € (56,163 USD – 78,628 USD)— Lot 41: “Censer with the effigy of the god Chaac presented standing”, the body adorned with rich ceremonial clothes. His head is crowned with a symbolic crown and his ears embellished with ornaments attesting to his divine rank among the members of the clan. He holds in each of his hands offerings, vessels destined to receive the blood of sacrifices. His open mouth shows two large teeth probably symbolizing the water flowing. The prolonged nose is associated with the serpent and the prescience of the shamans. Terracotta orange, beige and brown with beautiful traces of polychrome. Maya, end of the Post Classic period, Mayapan, Yucatan, Mexico, 1200-1500 AD JC. Estimate: 40,000 € - 60,000 € (44,930 USD – 67,395 USD)— Lot 40: “Cultory receptacle presenting the god Itzamna.” It wears the features of the god Bald Mouse and holds in one of his hands a waving serpent personifying the god Kukulkan. He is dressed magnificently and wears his finest ornaments: a crown bandeau composed of precious feathers of exotic birds with a thousand colors, tambas with pendant on the ears, a breastplate depicting a stylized cat on the chest and three amulets shaped cocoa bean on the belly (chocolate being the sacred drink of lords in the Maya). A belt around the waist symbolizes jade beads with the mask of a miniature dignitary. His legs are enriched with bells. His face is directed with intensity towards the sky of which he is the master and creator. Terracotta having preserved in part its beautiful original polychromy. Cover and receptacle very slightly broken glued. Superb general state of conservation. Maya, state of Quiche, Guatemala, classical period 550 to 950 AD. 59 x 32 cm; 73 x 39 cm. Estimate: 35,000 € - 45,000 € (39,314 USD – 50,546 USD)— Lot 43: “Exceptional hacha presenting a humanized monkey's head”, dentition marked by incisions and superciliary eyebrows carved in relief. Its head is surmounted by the totemic figure of a toucan with a slightly aquiline beak posed symbolically on the forehead. Beige speckled granite stone carved and polished. Veracruz region, Mexico, 550 to 950 AD. 30 x 23 x 3.5 cm. Estimate: 30,000 € - 40,000 € (33,698 USD – 44,930 USD)— Lot 13: Character, «Baby-face», sitting legs apart. One of its hands is placed on the thigh and the other symbolically on the back of the head. Her slightly eccentric face displays an infantile, feline and interrogative expression. The shoulders are straight, the lower body chubby, with studied and harmonious curves. This position, which evokes a child learning to sit or hold his head upright, is unquestionably one of the most beautiful examples of its kind. His mouth with drooping corners and half-closed eyes give an overall impression of surprise, fear and respect. Terracotta with ivory engobe with localized red-coffee polychrome. A broken leg stuck. Very good state of conservation. Olmec, Mexico. Average preclassic period, 32 x 36 x 22 cm. Estimate: 20,000 € - 30,000 € (22,465 USD – 33,698 USD)— Lot 33: “Large vase for religious use.” It presents the god Itzamna modeled in relief with mastery, supported by Tlaloc recognizable by its projected nose. At their sides, relief motifs evoke glyphs can be associated with an important historical date. Terra cotta with red slip localized coffee. Slightly broken bonded. Maya, North East of Peten, Guatemala, Classical Old, 300 to 500 AD. 24.5 x 31.5 cm.
