Harlem’s Fashion Row (HFR) and the CFDA recently partnered regarding a pop-up showroom for three of HFR’s designers: Fe Noel, Undra [Duncan] Celeste, and Kimberly Goldson, according to the CFDA website.HFR was formed in 2007 as a support group for emerging designers who encounter barriers to break into the traditional fashion matrix. The trials and tribulations are more for women of color who have, created popular style trends but are simultaneously barred from capitalizing on their innovations. “Our designers need access and the CFDA is becoming a bridge,” HFR Founder and CEO, Brandice Daniel was quoted, as on the website. “The sneaker gave us a great push and momentum, so we want to continue to help develop this batch of talent,” Daniel further said.Designers Noel, Duncan, and Goldson had their fair share of popularity when they co-designed the “HFR x LeBron [James] 16” sneaker. It created history by being the first Nike women’s athletic shoe designed by women. The style sold like a hot cake within five minutes, and a limited edition was recently re-launched in China, as per the website.Fe Noel had her big moment when Michelle Obama wore her creation while on her “Becoming” stadium book tour. Noel’s creative belief stems from: “Eat well, travel often, dress to inspire.” Her area of expertise lies in made-to-order and resort wear, sprouting from her Caribbean heritage. “A midi-length slip dress is updated with an arresting print of a painting by the Afro-Cuban painter Harmonia Rosales,” said the website.Undra Celeste, on the other hand, delves into seventies-inspired suiting and sensuous knit separates that are created for all body-types. The brand’s oversize knit “LOVE” sweater is a popular everlasting style, as per the website. Goldson, along with her business partner and sister Shelly Powell, deals in classic suiting and a kaleidoscope of graffiti-covered sequin separates, see-through and metallic-lace shirt-dresses for girls on the go, who prefer their button-down gowns paired with jeans and accessories with boots. She also offers vegan lame leather maternity playsuits for flying new mothers.Harlem’s Fashion Row, which is indeed a celebration of the fashion community sharing their personal experience, has once again lent a helping hand to the emerging designers. “Why wait?” added Powell, according to the website. “Every day is a special occasion,” she concluded.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the designers and their designs https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
