IWC Schaffhausen celebrated the legendary British fighter aircraft, Supermarine Spitfire, with a new lineup which is a part of its Pilot’s Watches collection.Formed in 1868, IWC Schaffhausen - a leading luxury watch manufacturer - has been consistently delivering fine Haute Horlogerie timepieces that are a combination of supreme precision and exclusive design. The Mark 11 navigation watch, produced for the Royal Air Force in 1948 by IWC Schaffhausen, has served as an inspiration for their latest Spitfire collection. The watches were announced at Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), watch exhibition. This collection is being billed by the company as being similar to the Spitfire and coming with a perfect combination of form and function.As part of the new collection, IWC has created the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Spitfire which features a 52615 IWC-manufactured calibre. With a power reserve of seven days, this watch is designed to work until the year 2100 without any correction. The Pilot’s Watch Timezoner Spitfire Edition «The Longest Flight» has been created for pilots Steve Boultbee Brooks and Matt Jones, who are participating in the «Silver Spitfire –The Longest Flight» project, and will be flying around the world in a Spitfire.The Pilot’s Watch UTC Spitfire Edition “MJ271” features a Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) that for the first time is integrated with an in-house manufactured calibre. The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Spitfire features a 69000 calibre family chronograph movement and has a power reserve of 46 hours.
