In its latest jewelry collection, Cartier has traveled out of the world and journeyed to the stars and planets. The French luxury goods house that was founded by Louis-Francois Cartier in Paris in 1847 and specalizes in jewelry and watches drew inspiration from “uncharted territories” of the cosmos in the creation of the collection. The collection uses new materials and showcases the tension between heaven and earth — the infinitely large in contrast with the infinitely small. In the limited edition collection, Cartier has created two white gold cage-bracelets which feature pearls from Tahiti that rotate like spheres. Designed to mimic planets in orbit, the bracelets bring movement to the wrist when worn. Meteorites and asteroids are thought to have the building blocks required for life, and Cartier has captured the crystals that form these objects with pink gold, diamonds, moonstone, and milky quartz. In the ring, bracelet, earrings, and necklace the meteorites and asteroids are captured with an irregular mesh of cones that reflect light. The lights of earth, as seen from space at night, are also recreated in a ring and open-design bracelet and a pendant which are designed to be paired. Each piece of jewelry features yellow and blue sapphires, opals, and diamonds, all of which move as they are mounted upon a rail which radiates continuously. The Milky Way is also recreated in a bracelet and ring which is composed of diamonds with a serti vibrant (trembling setting), and are encapsulated in a dome of rock crystal, which provides a protective bubble effect.Click on the slideshow to check the collection.http://www.blouinartinfo.comFounder: Louise Blouin Read more
