Gale Schneider, a 79-Year-Old grandmother and Stage 4 cancer survivor dances on the catwalk during the New York Fashion Week, as per the PR Newswire release. Schneider modeled at SMGlobal Catwalk during New York Fashion Week for Say YES to HOPE, a non-profit organization.“Together, YES, SMGlobal Catwalk, the designers, Schneider, and the other patients are making a difference in the fight against a cancer that is not often discussed. The ‘Surviving in Fashion’ showcase is a beautiful tribute to cancer patients and a wonderful way to witness fashion and philanthropy. Modeling the wonderful designs gives these patients a chance to shine, to be pampered, and to escape the ravages of treatment while sharing time with others that have a similar diagnosis,” states the release.Gale Schneider is living fully in spite of stage 4 breast cancer, and she shared her joy during the show while modeling. She left behind her cancer for a while as she took her place on the runway.“Her courage on this 20-year journey has been steadfast as she has endured both IV and oral chemotherapy, many hormone blockers, radiation, radiation burns, a stem cell transplant, spots surgically removed from her liver, SIR-Spheres microspheres to her liver tumors and, most recently, cryoablation that froze three spots on her liver,” states the release.Schneider’s doctor Mohammed Bilal, MD, who is head of vascular and interventional radiology at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital, and Katie Egner, physician assistant of interventional radiology, were present in the audience to cheer her on.Egner said, “It was an evening that represented incredible hope, love, and strength and was an inspiration to all that were fortunate enough to attend.” Both agreed that it re-validated the work that they do. Dr. Bilal shares, “To see outcomes like that and then to witness the patient enjoying such a special moment in her life makes everything clear as to why the work we do is so important. It was an honor for us to be a part of the night.”The release informs that the most interesting part of the evening was the fact that Schneider was escorted down the runway by her four grandsons and on the return walk, they all broke into a dance. The joy and enthusiasm left the audience on their feet.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at Gale Schneider and the show. https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
