Van Cleef & Arpels has added the Lucky Animals Collection of clips to its menagerie of graceful and delicate animals recreated with gold and dazzling hard stones.At Van Cleef & Arpels benevolent nature has inspired a number of jewelry collections over the years. The France-based luxury company that creates jewelry, watches, and perfumes has released nine clips that are inspired by animals and birds. The clips follow other collections, which have similar themes, such as the “La Boutique,” which was launched by the house in the 1950s. Among the pieces in the “La Boutique,” the Lion ebouriffe and the Chat malicieux came with a mischievous appearance, and became cherished icons.With the nine animals that have been added in the Lucky Animals Collection, lively and graceful posture is captured using mother-of-pearl and attention-grabbing hard stones. The resultant clips “come to life” and feature intricate detailing on beaks, muzzles, whiskers, and manes, which provide the animals with a unique personality. Onyx used to create the eyes of the animals provides them with character and they seem posed to listen and observe.Hard stones such as tiger’s eye are used in the “Lion” clip and it is combined with onyx, while yellow gold is used to create its mane. Tiger’s eye is also employed in the creation of the “Rabbit” clip where it delivers a brownish hue, while in the “Squirrel” clip, it pairs well with the carnelian used for its body.  The “Dog” clip features outline of yellow gold, while its body is created from white mother-of-pearl.
