A superb specimen. Estimate: EUR 50,000 (USD 57,500)- Savonnerie, France, c. 774 x 510 cm, second half of the 18th century, cross-woven, imperialistic hand knotted carpet in heraldic format, manufactured as palace carpet as commissioned work, a filigree round medallion enclosed in a lozenge on rust-red ground, the spandrels containing curved cornucopias overflowing with flowers and leaves, in superb color and design quality. All sides additionally secured with a linen band on the back. Estimate: EUR 40,000 (USD 46,000)- Mythological Tapestry, Brussels (Netherlands), c. 342 x 535 cm, about 1560; depiction of the Feast of Jupiter, tapestry from the famous Hardwick Hall (Derbyshire, England) tapestry series. The Hardwick series consists of four confirmed antique mythological hangings (Vulcan, Neptune, Mars and Venus, and possibly a fifth with Cybele as subject) as well as the present piece from Austrian private ownership. The latter tapestry depicts the Feast of Jupiter. Estimate: EUR 28,000 (USD 32,500)- Heriz Silk, Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 235 x 162 cm, late 19th century, antique silk carpet from the Heriz region, manufactured with c. 1/2 mill. kts/sqm and cotton wefts, curious tree of life pattern with demons, shepherds, riders and several abstract animal figures; excellent pile condition, only minimal signs of wear, both finishes are complete and original as well as secured with a linen band on the back. Estimate: EUR 12,000 (USD 14,000)- Ersari Asmalyk, South Turkestan, c. 66 x 164 cm, first half of the 19th century, very rare, heptagonal camel hanging with vertical kochanak motifs on yellow ground, asmalyks with top triangle such as the present one are known in small quantities from the Yomut tribes. Estimate: EUR 12,000 (USD 14,000)- Tabriz, Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 403 x 292 cm, second half of the 20th century, with c. 1/2 mill. kts/sqm, knotted on silk warp and silk parts of the pattern, in pastel colours, on both sides brocaded woven. Estimate: EUR 12,000 (USD 14,000)- Chinese Silk Carpet, China, c. 215 x 127 cm, mid-19th century, asymmetrical knot, open to the left, cotton foundation; unusual silk carpet, its ground brocaded with metal threads, with an elusive inscription indicating that the present piece was manufactured by “Cai Yin” as an official commission.
