Silvera Bac, Paris is hosting “Drawing Glass,” an exhibition that sees Fabrica celebrate the beauty of the creative process through a limited edition glass collection. “Drawing Glass” was realized by Fabrica in 2013 and looks at how an idea or a few lines of ink on paper transforms into a physical object. How can a designer succeed in making their creative vision readable, thus allowing the producer to receive the information and bring it to life? Curated by Fabrica’s design director Sam Baron, “Drawing Glass” features 14 exploratory hand drawings, which have been turned into a limited edition glass collection.Designed by Baron along with five other international designers participating in Fabrica’s cross-disciplinary design residency, including Dean Brown, Charlotte Juillard, Giorgia Zanellato, Ryu Yamamoto, and Valentina Carretta, and the renowned Italian duo Trimarchi-Farresin from Formafantasma as guest-designers, the series of 1:1 compositions is interpreted and given a three-dimensional existence by Italian glass blower Massimo Lunardon. Some of the works on display include a curiously sculptural ornamental vase, a bottle, and a cup which become part of the imaginary construction site of a city yet to be built, and a Japanese character which evolves into a 3D object. The exhibition is a marvelous cross-over work mixing art and design.“Drawing Glass” is on view through February 3, 2018 at Silvera Bac, Paris, 43 Rue du Bac, Paris, France, noted Domus. Read more
