After the much-appreciated exhibit of “Plain Cuts” at the recently concluded PAD London 2017, Wonmin Park’s collection now moves to Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Paris.Park’s works emerge from his observation of the world around him, and are rooted in the Korean philosophy and tradition. The designer gets into a contemplative mode for his latest collection, which is at once poetic and also connects with the world of architecture as it looks at the geometry of construction and how virtual lines seem to produce volume. Symmetry, color, and proportions play a significant role as Park creates the minimalistic and meditative designs of “Plain Cuts” series. The designer uses cut aluminum sheets and employs the patina technique to change the metal’s color. He also works with resin for its texture, transparency, and color.Wonmin Park (b. 1982) has been exposed to various cultures as he was born in Korea, then moved to Netherlands to study at Eindhoven Academy, and later established his studio in France in 2012. His earlier collection “Haze,” garnered much appreciation at important exhibitions in Paris, Miami, and Dubai. The designer radically uses light and color to produce emptiness, giving a sense of eternity to his works.“Plain Cuts” is on view through December 23, 2017, at Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Marais, 54 Rue De La Verrerie, 75004, ParisFor more details, visit: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/carpenters-workshop-gallery-paris/overviewClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the collection.
