“Amurs” an exhibition of works by Bearth & Deplazes Architekten is on view at Galerie Jaroslava Fragnera, Prague. The exhibition examines the building culture of Bearth & Deplazes Architekten and celebrates the resort town of Canton of Graubünden situated in Switzerland. Many of their works are based on an evolved building culture and the region’s tourism. This gives rise to a dichotomy that must be addressed continuously. The issue of historic buildings, village centers, and settlements that are an integral part of Graubünden’s identity must be developed further. Bearth & Deplazes’ work deal with situating, in both a metaphorical and entirely literal sense: situating in culture, and situating in space. Each of their works is a one of a kind made specifically for a particular corner of Graubünden not interchangeable or easily mistaken for another. This is reflected through by Ralph Feiner and Tonatiuh Ambrosetti, which express the relationship to landscape and place.Bearth & Deplazes Architekten is an architectural practice based in Chur, Switzerland founded by Valentin Bearth, Andrea Deplazes, and Daniel Ladne. The firm has received several awards and accolades over the past years such as SIA-Architekturpreis des Kantons Tessin 2016, Preis Prix Lignum Region Ost 2015, Green GOOD DESIGN 2010, The Chicago Athenaeum / Europe 2010, and IABSE International Award for Bridge and Structural Engineering 2001.“Amurs” runs from June 20 through August 31, 2017, at Galerie Jaroslava Fragnera, Betlémské nám. 169/5A, 110 00 Staré Město, Czechia. For details, visit: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/galerie-jaroslava-fragnera/overview Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
